Style Guide: Simple Staples That Make a Statement
Do you ever find yourself standing in your closet 5 minutes before you have to leave the house, having NO IDEA what you are going to wear? Well… me too… all the time. Sometimes the best you can do is throw on jeans and a t-shirt and call it a day and let me tell you, sometimes that is just the only way to go. I want to tell you a secret… it’s all about how you accessorize. No matter what pair of jeans and what t-shirt you throw on, the accessories make the look.
I want to show you how accessories can change a look from 0 to 10, what accessories you can add to elevate a simple look, and how affordable these things can be.
Edgy-Girly Chic
This is a great of example of how to take a simple pair of distressed mom jeans and a raw hem t-shirt and turn it into a fun outfit you can wear shopping, to a school event, or just to look cute because you deserve to feel good!
Here we have added a headband which draws attention to your beautiful face;) Earrings always spice up a look, you can either go simpler as we have done, or do something fun with a pattern or fringe. A belt bag, or fanny pack as most of you would remember them (THEY ARE BACK!), is probably one of the most practical accessories you can add to a casual look to make it look not so casual. A bracelet stack is a much more bold statement than a simple bangle or chain. Finally a printed sandal draws in the tones of the patch in the jeans and top, giving a much more “put together” feel.

Rolling your sleeves on any simple t-shirt can elevate the look DRAMATICALLY, changing the silhouette and making your t-shirt seem more like a blouse.
Doing a front tuck or a “french tuck” on any kind of shapeless or oversized top immediately gives the top and your body SHAPE by pulling in the waist and accentuating your curves.
Boho Chic
Here you can see all of the accessories are the same accept for the hat! Instantly the look goes from edgy to boho the second you switch the headband for a fedora. Switch to a solid pair of sandals to make the cheetah band on the hat shine and you are good to go!
